3.1 Working at the University of Virginia School of Medicine comes with its benefits and challenges. The school of medicine has done an exceptional job of recruiting the right people in the right roles. Within the organization, most managers and individual contributors are skilled and driven to learn in order to further the mission of the school. Unfortunately, the school of medicine is highly dependent on external teams and systems across the broader University and Medical Center that make completing projects unnecessarily complex. External teams do not prioritize collaboration with the school of medicine, so even though a project may look successful internally, it will be met with resistance when it comes time to publish and support the ongoing functionality of new tools and information. The salary at the School of Medicine is adequate but there are no onsite perks or team-building opportunities like you might find in a company setting. Overall the UVA School of Medicine is a good place to work but due to the broader organization, it is difficult to see your efforts implemented.

3.1 Place a bigger emphasis on the employees; we are always told we have to do better, but we are not compensated correctly. We lack the resources we need and even if suggestions are made those resources are still lacking. I have never seen the CEO since orientation.

Overview University of Virginia was founded by Thomas Jefferson in 1819. Jefferson's vision was to design a unique curriculum for leaders in public service and practical affairs. In addition to the core course requirements offered, the University of Virginia was the first to offer elective courses.

University of Virginia was officially opened in 1825. There were eight highly qualified faculty members in which five members were from England and three were from the United States. Also, sixty-eight students were admitted to the university in its first year. Students were offered courses in ancient and modern languages, math, law and moral philosophy. The school also offered courses in chemistry and medicine. Today, students who attend the University of Virginia, located in Charlottesville, Virginia can pursue degrees in engineering, education, medicine, nursing and many other career paths.
