Overview The University of Bridgeport is located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The University was founded in 1927 and was known as The Junior College of Connecticut. In 1947, The University was given the authority to grant baccalaureate degrees and the name was changed to its present name.

Eventually, the University expanded course offerings and began to offer graduate degrees in the fields of Education as well as Heath. Today, almost 5,000 students attend the University. Students can take classes at the main campus located in Bridgeport, or they can take classes at the satellite campuses which are located in Waterbury and Stanford. The Bridgeport campus is about an hour's drive from New York City.
