The company was founded in 1939 by senior partners Warren "Jack" Pershing, Dave Foster, Lou Froehlich, Ed Cohan and Van Burger, Sr. Pershing steadily expanded throughout the following decades and incorporated in 1971. Pershing was acquired by the Bank of New York in 2003, which merged with Mellon Bank in 2007. In 2012, Pershing reported assets of nearly $24 million.
