PacifiCorp is an electric utility company located in Portland, Oregon. They serve customers in multiple states including Utah, Oregon, Wyoming and Washington. PacifiCorp also serves a small percentage of customers located in California and Idaho. They operate 69 power generation facilities in six states. PacifiCorp is a subsidiary of MidAmerican Energy Holdings Company that is affiliated with Berkshire Hathaway. The company was founded in 1984 and its corporate headquarters are located in Portland, Oregon. Rocky Mountain Power is also a subsidiary of PacifiCorp.
PacifiCorp and Rocky Mountain Power combined serve over 1.6 million customers. Utah Power and Light merged with PacifiCorp in 1987. Over 70 percent of the energy generated comes from thermal sources such as coal and gas. 22 percent of the power generated comes from other contracts or supplies. The remaining sources include power generated by hydroelectric and wind power.
