"Make sure to get a full-time (w/ benefits) position. The many part-time jobs keep you over-worked, and under-paid."

"Higher-ups refuse to do anything about negative situations, other than to discuss the situation and exhaust all possible courses of action."

"I would stop treating employees like dirt and actually make them want to work there."

"gossip is difficult to avoid, and it can be difficult to get your ideas heard. but if one is diligent and keeps at it, you can eventually get a seat in the right meetings and start having more of a say in what happens."

"too much nepotism and insider activity re: hiring, promotions, and project assignments"

"job classifications are too rigid, making it difficult to retain good people at times."

"I like the atmosphere around campus during the school year and the benefits are really good."

"As long as you can get an interview you're fine. A large portion of the time, however, it seems to be more about who you know than what you know."

"There is a close-minded, stuck-in-the-past attitude throughout a large portion of the University. The culture on the faculty/staff side of things is very political and petty."

"I would actually lead the University in the manner that it should be led. I wouldn't cave to public/media outcries or opinion. I would stand up for and defend the University for the wonderful place it is."

"Basically nothing. But I'll graduate and need to find a job somewhere else."

"Basically nothing. This lab is very well organized and everyone has a chance to work in team as well as individually."

"Penn State is a very stable company. We live just 2 miles from work in a wonderful neighborhood. I have become close with many people."

"Penn State is so stable that very few people leave and because of that there is little room for advancement."

"Outsource and streamline operations to greatly reduce costs. Then, focus spending in a manner that has the greatest effect on the educational process."
